Sheffield Wednesday’s new signing Gary Hooper has said he is targeting promotion.
The striker recently made his loan switch permanent and celebrated that fact by scoring the opening goal in the 1-1 draw with Reading.
That continues a purple patch of form which has seen him score four goals in five appearances, becoming the goal scoring striker the Owls have been wanting for several years.
Now the former Norwich City man has got his long term future with Wednesday after signing a three and a half year contract, he has set some targets for himself and the first one is to get the South Yorkshire club back in the Premier League.
It’s a real possibility with the Owls currently being 6th in the Championship, though drawing with Reading meant they missed the chance to go higher in the table.
Talking about his future with Wednesday, Hooper told the Sheffield Star: “The club is going places. The squad is good and we are in the play-offs and that’s a good sign. Hopefully we can kick on in the league.”
“It’s always nice to play and that’s why I had to get out of Norwich. I wanted to go on loan and play football.
“Now I’m finding my fitness and the goals are starting to come.”
