Blackpool’s Danny Philliskirk has warned fans their game against Oldham Athletic will not be one for the purists.

While some fans may be excited for a Lancashire derby, it probably won’t be a game of delights. The Tangerines have managed to climb out of the relegation zone but they are still in the fight as they are 18th place and three points above 21st placed Chesterfield.

Oldham though, who have recently appointed John Sheridan as their manager, are still in the mire of the relegation zone. They sit in 23rd place and five points away from safety.

With both teams out of sorts going into this match, it is not expected to be a good match and Philliskirk, who only joined from Blackpool from Oldham in the New Year, has warned fans that it won’t be a pretty one for anyone who decides to watch.

Ahead of the game against Blackpool, Philliskirk told the Blackpool Gazette: “These games at the bottom aren’t footballing games,”

“Sometimes you have to dig in and take your chances when they come”

“We have sulked over the weekend but this is an important game now.”

“We have to go all guns blazing into the Oldham game.”

“We need to start the game better, and if we do I’m sure we’ll get something from it.”
