Derby County interim head coach Darren Wassall has said that every place in the first team is up for grabs.

It hasn’t gone very well for the Rams in 2016 and are currently eight games without a win. This poor run saw Paul Clement get sacked, though their owners insisted his departure was not down to recent results.

Wassall has now been appointed as head coach until the end of the season and he has already showed it won’t be an instant turnaround. In his first game in charge, he lost 1-0 to relegation strugglers MK Dons and now has an even tougher game next up in the shape of Brentford.

While the Bees were poor last week after losing 4-0 to Derby’s promotion rivals Sheffield Wednesday, they will be eager to bounce back and an out of sorts Derby team could face their wrath.

Talking ahead of the game against Brentford, Wassall told the Derby Telegraph: “Until we get the right balance, formation and results all places are up for grabs,”
