Ipswich Town, who currently sit ninth in the Sky Bet Championship, appear on the recent list of companies given a winding up order that was updated on Friday.
This would mean that The Tractor Boys would be the second side to be handed a winding-up order so far this season in the Championship, with Bolton Wanderers being given one in December last year.
Town have been in financial trouble for a number of years now. Manager Mick McCarthy has spoken about the financial constraints he’s had to work under in the past, with Ipswich signing a majority of their players on free transfers and loan deals.
Recent figures had shown that Ipswich’s financial woes were improving, mainly down to the recent sales of Tyrone Mings and Aaron Cresswell to AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United respectively. However, if this news is true, then Ipswich may be in trouble with the Football League.
Bolton have so far avoided any penalties for their financial issues, with the club given until tomorrow to seek an alternative method to their financial solution.
