Fans have voted Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper Kieren Westwood as the Championship’s best goalkeeper in a recent poll ran on this site.
Westwood won a staggering 92% of his duels, way above any of his nearest competitors for the title. Allan McGregor (Hull), David Marshall (Cardiff) and Tom Heaton (Burnley) won 61%, 60% and 59% respectively.
The 31-year-old ‘keeper has played 26 matches in the Championship this season and kept a tidy eight clean sheets for his side
His impressive performances between the sticks since joining the club in 2014 from Premier League side Sunderland have won over many admirers, which shows by the huge percentage of duels that he won.
Choosing the best goalkeeper in the Championship is certainly a hard task, given the vast number of sublime goalkeepers in the division. Yet, I think that Westwood is worthy of the award, given his performances over the last couple of seasons.
