Southend United chairman Ron Martin has said he won’t allow Phil Brown to leave to join Bolton Wanderers.
Recent reports have suggested that Bolton have targeted Brown as their main target to replace Neil Lennon who was sacked after being unable to get Bolton off the bottom of the Championship. At Southend, Brown has been a massive success after guiding them into League 1 via the play offs and has made them an outside bet to get into the top six this season.
But if Bolton do want Brown to be the next manager of their club, they are going to face a tough task. His chairman Martin has come out and has revealed that while he is yet to receive an approach for Brown, even if he did he would not allow Brown to begin talks with the Lancashire club.
Asked about the recent speculation around Brown, Martin told the Echo: “There has been no approach from Bolton but I wouldn’t allow Phil to talk to them even if there was,”
“I would also be disappointed if Phil wanted to leave us.”
